It's all about catching the ball!

Fri, 12 Aug 2011

The NatWest Island Games 2011 is behind us, but the fond memories will stay for a long, long time.  As will the legacies from the Games, the competition and the friendship.

When the sports people from Shetland returned home from the Games they made a short movie to show just how many people it takes to create the infrastructure for sport and indeed society.  If you look closely you will see IIGA Vice Chairman James Johnston in the chain (yes he did catch the ball!).

Our focus is already on the NatWest Island Games in Bermuda in 2013 - the first time we will cross the Atlantic Ocean to compete in our Games. This in itself is, of course, a challenge.  But even more of a challenge will be the competition because the standards will once again be even higher!  The sports within our islands have developed a lot since 1985 thanks to the NatWest Island Games.

But enough words for now, go to this link and be inspired by what they did in Shetland: www.youtube.com
