Sad News From St Helena

We recently received the sad news that our friend of many years, Gilbert Yon MBE passed away on March 20th, aged 68 years.  Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

Our memories of Gilbert will always be bright and treasured as he was a good friend of the IIGA for many years.  As Chairman of the St Helena Island Games Association he helped to bring teams to our Games from the fartherst corner of the Games Family - travelling further and for longer than any other Member of our Association.  Gilbert attended many of our Games with his wife Ethel Yon OBE.  He was always friendly and interested in the development of our Association and always had a kind word and a warm smile to share.

The NatWest Island Games in the Isle of Wight this summer will not be the same without him but although Gilbert will not be there, his memory will live on for a very long time.
