Challenge makes us grow!

Dear Friends

Now that summer is almost over we can look back and remember the NatWest Island Games in the Isle of Wight. However it is also time to begin looking forward. Sooner than we know it will be time for the NatWest Island Games XV 2013 in Bermuda. Just getting there will be a great challenge for most of us.  The Atlantic Ocean is huge and for the first time in the history of our Games, as we have accepted the invitation to celebrate the NatWest Island Games in Bermuda, it is to be crossed "the other way round". So far it has always been our friends in Bermuda and Cayman who have made the effort to travel to Europe and our side of the ocean. It will prove to be yet another lifetime memory.  The people in Bermuda are both friendly and enthusiastic over the opportunity to welcome all of their international guests to their beautiful island home. Their sporting venues are top class which will guarantee some outstanding performances by our athletes.  As always.

We organise the NatWest Island Games to encourage friendly competition between our islanders.  We do it because we know it will develop both our islands and our islanders.  On behalf of the IIGA I would like to take this oportunity to wish all our Member Island Associations the very best of luck in their important work of raising funds to get to Bermuda. I also wish all of our athletes good luck with their preparations.

Although it might seem a long time until the Games in 2013 it's not!  Time flies and we must begin both our training and preparations today.
