Jersey Gears Up For the Games

Jersey Gears up for the Games.

On Wednesday the Executive Committee of the International Island Games Association will gather in Jersey for their spring meeting. The Committee meets in person twice a year, besides numerous telephone calls and Skype conferences.  The main reason for the meeting being held in Jersey is to obtain first-hand information on the planning and preparation for the NatWest Island Games XVI next year, 2015. The Games in Jersey will probably be the largest one in the history of the IIGA and at least as big as the Winter Olympics in Sotji. This is a challenging project and will include many volunteers, sports officials, spectators, hoteliers and everyone else to take part in the organisation. From an IIGA perspective we are convinced the Games are in good hands and we are looking forward to seeing the progress that has been made so far with our own eyes.

In the summer the representatives from all of our Member Islands will arrive to Jersey to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Association and to review the sports venues and accommodation options together with the travel arrangements within the island.

The NatWest Island Games brings islanders together, not only during the Games but also in between!
