Time flies!

 

Only three months ago we said goodbye in Aland.  I can assure you all that the Alanders have missed you a lot and the 2009 NatWest Island Games are still fresh in many minds.   On the 12th November there will be a get-together for all the organisers on the Viking Lineship – Rosella.
 
The results from the NatWest Island Games in Aland clearly show that the quality of the competition is getting better and better.  71 records were broken in Archery, Athletics, Shooting and Swimming by 11 Member Island competitors as follows:

Gotland             - 5     (4 Shooting 1 Swimming)

Gibraltar             - 3     (3 Shooting)

Guernsey             - 10   (3 Athletics 7 Swimming)

Isle of Man             - 12   (6 Archery 6 Swimming)

Jersey              - 8     (1 Athletics 3 Shooting 4 Swimming)

Menorca             - 1     (Archery)

Orkney              - 1     (Archery)

Saaremaa             - 1     (Athletics)

Shetland             - 4     (Archery)

The six smallest Member Islands in our Association - Alderney, Falkland Is., Froya, Hitra, Sark and St Helena also compete for the IIGA Small Island Certificates and for the NatWest Island Games in Aland certificates were awarded to the following Member Island competitors: 

Alderney -  Gold - Golf Team Event - Men;   Bronze - Golf Individual Event - Men; 

Falkland Is -  Bronze - Golf Team Event - Men

St Helena -  Gold - Golf Individual Event - Men;   Silver - Golf Individual Event - Men and  Silver - Golf Team Event - Men
