No Cause for Concern

Fri, 10 Dec 2010

It could have been a hypothetical answer to a hypothetical question or maybe just a misunderstanding but rumour has it that the Isle of Wight, due to a financial short-come, is struggling to host the NatWest Island Games next year.

This is not true!

The Isle of Wight Council has supported the NatWest Island Games since day one and has assured us that they will continue to do so.  The Games will go on and will bring thousands and thousands of enthusiastic sportspeople to the beautiful island next June - of this there is no doubt!

We are all aware that times are difficult from a finanical perspective and as such it could be said that at times like this it is more important than ever to look to the future.  The International Island Games Association believes in the future and just as in sport every community need good role models, a fighting spirit and friendship across borders.  Our Games provide all of these.  The NatWest Island Games is a model not only for the people interested in sport but as a force towards progress and prosperity.  The Games is an investment in the future, in the younger generation and in friendship.  Which community could afford not to follow this road?
