A Year of Preparations

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

Thanks to our friends in Bermuda, last summer we celebrated the XV NatWest Island Games.  During an intense week of sport we saw records broken and friendships begin, in keeping with the ethos of the International Island Games Association and the 'Friendly Games'.

Right now preparations for the next NatWest Island Games are in full swing in Jersey.  This will be the second time that Jersey has taken on the challenge and hosted the Games - the first time being in 1997 - and expectations are extremely high.

The IIGA Executive Committee will hold their annual spring meeting in Jersey this year at the beginning of April; when they will do everything they can to assist the Organising Committee with their planning/preparations for their Games next summer.  And look forward to the preparations which are already under way for the Games in Gotland in 2017 together with the Bid by Faroe Islands to host the 2019 Games.

In late June this year the Member Islands will send representatives to the Pre-View Visit in Jersey when they will tour the sports venues and accommodation and take part in the IIGA Annual General Meeting.

We are looking forward to a year of preparation to make the NatWest Island Games XVI 2015 in Jersey as much a success as Bermuda last year.
