He has served as a member of the IIGA Executive Committee since 2007, attended every NatWest Island Games since 1999 and was Deputy Director for the NatWest Island Games that were held in the Isle of Man in 2001.

Chairman of the IIGA, Mr Jorgen Pettersson comments “we are delighted to welcome Andy as our new General Secretary. I believe he has the administrative skills and knowledge of International Sport which will be of great benefit to the Association”.

The process of recruiting the new General Secretary has been led by Vice Chairman, Mr James Johnston: “I have known Andy professionally for many years and have been aware of his successful career in sports management I am looking forward to working with Andy for the development of the IIGA”.

Apart from running the day to day business of the Association, the continued focus for the new General Secretary will be communication with the 24 Member Islands that form the International Island Games Association.

Andy is looking forward to his new role: “I believe that my general experience in sport will enable me to make a positive contribution to the work of the IIGA and the continued success of this wonderful event”.
