Official Launch of the NatWest Island Games XIV 2011 - Isle of Wight

Thursday 19th March was indeed a day to remember in the Isle of Wight. The Chairman of the 2011 NatWest Island Games Organising Committee, Mr David Ball, together with more than 200 guests officially commenced the build up for the NatWest Island Games XIV 2011 - Isle of Wight with the launch of their new website http://www.natwestislandgames2011.co.uk

Amongst the invited guests was the Chairman of the International Island Games Association, Mr Jorgen Pettersson from Aland, who thanked the Isle of Wight for their efforts to create contentment in island life through friendly sport.   "However there is moreto sport than this.  You are showing everyone that you wish to become involved and be a part of the Friendly Games by fostering friendship and inspiring not only the people of the Isle of Wight but all our fellow Island within the IIGA" Jorgen Pettersson said.


But first things first - the Isle of Wight will be sending a team of 165 sportspeople to the NatWest Island Games in Aland this summer, their largest team since the 2001 Games in the Isle of Man.
